Well here we are again…at the cusp of a new year with a list of resolutions ready to make fools of us all. I don’t know about you, but I totally suck at keeping resolutions. Whether it’s because I set my goals too high or I’m unrealistic about my time management skills, I always disappoint myself.
So this year I am preparing a list of things I resolve NOT to do. Perhaps a shift in my perspective will help me be more diligent in achieving these elusive goals. So here is my list of five items I will not engage in 2015:
#1 – I RESOLVE to NOT go on a diet. I will not fall victim to any juicing fads or paleo-inspired dietary restrictions. I WILL feed my body fresh food (potatoes are healthy right?) and I will look at every thing I eat as a deposit to my “body bank account.” Withdrawals, of course, are entirely acceptable as well, especially on my birthday.
#2 – I RESOLVE to NOT sign up for any fitness classes that make me a slave to a schedule. A workout schedule of any sort is a sure-fire way for me to find ways around it. I WILL go the gym as often as possible and even better, I will find opportunities to be out in nature jogging or walking or soaking up the sunshine.
#3 – I RESOLVE to NOT let anyone (including my 3 beautiful, budding goddesses) find ways to steal my peace. I WILL stay neutral in family dramas, approach each situation with love and compassion, and speak with honesty and integrity.
#4 – I RESOLVE to NOT let my own insecurities play that sorry, broken, old record of negative self-talk that haunts me in my weak moments. I WILL be gentle on myself when I feel weak, tired and alone and I WILL love my imperfections.
#5 – I RESOLVE to NOT say YES when I MEAN NO. Just like that…
The Lord bless you and keep you;
the Lord make his face shine on you
and be gracious to you;
the Lord turn his face toward you
and give you peace. (Numbers 6:24-26)
Blessings to you in 2015,
Susan
And I will forgive myself for the misspelling of “too” in the first paragraph. I frantically went in to change it after I hit the publish button! But alas, some of you will see the error. Loving my caffeine-inspired self!
